Here's a band and venue I highly recommend. The Sandbar Grill in Rock Hill, SC is a cozy bar/restaurant near the Rock Hill Airport. The acoustics are good and a great place to see a band which I did Friday night. The crowd there consisted of regulars and newcomers like me and the participation with the band was lively as demonstrated by their reaction to Chubby Knuckles who were playing that night.
Chubby Knuckles plays rock and roll along with Motown hits adding a slight flavor of their own style which kept the joint jumpin' on the night I was there. The lead singer, Rusty Pilot, worked the crowd either by having a dialog with them from the mic or leaving the stage to dance with them which kept everyone's enthusiasm up. Wane Marett on bass guitar and Lex Nordinger on drums laid the foundation for Frank Kilough's impeccable guitar work.
The Sandbar is a great place to see a band as well as have a drink and some food in a friendly atmosphere. If you get a chance to see Chubby Knuckles there or somewhere near you, don't miss it.
