A New Metal Band in Town

Metalheads of Charlotte rejoice because there is a new female fronted metal band in town called Venus Invictus and they are spectacular.

The members Amanda Tattermask (Lead Vocals), Josh Wright (Guitar), Harlynn Spectra (Bass), Tim (Cello), and Jim Saj (Drums) make up a dynamic group with sounds that if Within Temptations, Evanescence, and Lacuna Coil could have a baby, they would get Venus Invictus.

Amanda is a powerhouse for vocals and her and her band members provide a passionate performance worthy to watch. Amanda, Josh, and Harlynn are formerly from the popular area band Tattermask. Their drummer, Jim Saj is from the metal band Nihm and American Murder. I had the opportunity to interview Amanda recently.

Q: What do you think sets Venus Invictus apart from other bands?

A: I'm not really sure what makes us unique musically except maybe that we're all overachiever perfectionists when it comes to music. Our goofiness is definitely what sets us apart as people. According to band member Josh, "our drummer's constant gas emissions."

Q: If you had 5 words to describe Venus Invictus what would they be?
A: Hell-bent on writing excellent music

Q: You released back in October, "Let's Not Lose Our Heads," with a music video. Do you have any new plans for releasing any additional new music?
A: YES! We were in the studio the first week of May to record a couple of new songs. We recently had a fundraiser (http://venusinvictus.com/fundraiser/) that we're holding open to offset the costs.

Q: What type of things as a songwriter do you like to write about and why?
A: I like to write about inner strength and finding hope in bad situations. Some of my favorite bands write songs like that, and those songs inspire me to try and write songs that can make people feel like that.

Q: What are some of your favorite bands that inspire you?
A: Alter Bridge, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Amy Lee of Evanescence.... plus, a lifetime of singing and playing classical music.

This is a band that is definitely to be watched. Anxious to see this up and coming band? The following are some dates where they will be.

June 03, 2017 - Ground Zero - Spartanburg, SC

June 09, 2017 - The Somewhere Else Tavern - Greensboro, NC

July 13, 2017 - The Somewhere Else Tavern -- Greensboro, NC

August 18, 2017 - Odditorium - Asheville, NC

If you can't make it to a concert, fear not. You can also listen to their single, "Let's Not Lose Our Heads," on their website http://www.venusinvictus.com  .
